 ANGELS OF INK is here to help people starting out in the world of tattooing to get into the business, which we know is becoming closed ranks to most of us.
YES we know what they call us, scratchers...
They have to put a label on it because they don't understand...
The only thing we can and will say is that they will never, we mean never, stop home tattooing and people learning to tattoo through self-study....
Keeping the knowledge of safe tattooing from amatuer and hobbyist tattooists only harms the entirety of the industry, as the public doesn't differentiate the pro's from the amateurs. The withholding of information serves no purpose other than to help them keep a stranglehold on their industry, increasing the spread of communicable diseases, and damage the reputation of tattooing as a whole.
So we are here, an international consortium of self-taught tattooist to share information and give what guidance we can. Let's face it, we are the future tattooists. With the advent of the information age, the ancient method of apprenticing is outmoded and not always practical. It is hypocrisy to state an apprenticeship is the only way to properly learn to tattoo, when so many so-called professionals never apprenticed themselves.
So let's take back the ancient art of tattooing and bring it out of the dark ages, and promote the free exchange of information to make tattooing a safer and more artistic medium for all.
AOI is an organization dedicated to bringing you the knowhow of tattooists everywhere.
